Delhi High Court rejects CBI plea challenging Chitra Ramkrishna’s bail

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday dismissed the CBI’s challenge to the bail granted to former National Stock Exchange (NSE) managing director and CEO Chitra Ramkrishna in the alleged illegal phone-tapping case involving NSE employees.
Justice Madhu Jain rejected the CBI’s petition against the trial court’s December 22, 2022 order granting bail to Ramkrishna. A detailed copy of the High Court’s judgment is awaited.
According to the CBI’s FIR, senior NSE officials, including Ramkrishna, allegedly conspired with iSec Services Pvt Ltd to cheat the stock exchange and its employees. The agency has alleged that iSec was engaged as part of the conspiracy to illegally intercept phone calls of NSE employees.
Ramkrishna joined NSE as joint managing director in 2009 and served in that role until March 2013. She became the exchange’s managing director and CEO on April 1, 2013, and continued in the position until December 2016.
The case is separate from other investigations involving Ramkrishna during her tenure at NSE.
