Telangana announces 34% profit share for Singareni employees, Rs 1.53 lakh bonus

The Telangana government has announced a 34 per cent profit share for Singareni Collieries Company employees, with each permanent worker set to receive a bonus of Rs 1.53 lakh and contract workers Rs 5,500.
Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Bhatti Vikramarka announced the decision at a press conference, along with a series of welfare measures covering compassionate appointments, housing, healthcare and the reinstatement of certain dismissed employees.
Bhatti said compassionate appointments at Singareni would be made within 15 days. He also assured employees working under assumed names that the government would find a permanent solution to their issues.
The government has decided to conduct medical examinations for employee invalidation assessments at Singareni's area hospitals instead of requiring workers to travel to the headquarters hospital in Kothagudem, he said.
It will also offer a one-time opportunity to employees who were dismissed for failing to report for duty during the COVID-19 pandemic.
On housing, Bhatti said eligible beneficiaries would receive house plot pattas on 1,250 acres of Singareni land under Government Order 76. Those already occupying the land would also be granted pattas, subject to eligibility.
The government will additionally construct a housing colony named Nehru Housing Colony to help Singareni workers realise their dream of owning a home.
Bhatti said the government would upgrade Singareni's area hospitals to standards comparable to corporate hospitals, ensure the availability of super-specialist doctors and provide free cancer screening tests.
Information Technology Minister D Sridhar Babu said the decisions were taken from a humanitarian perspective to safeguard the welfare of Singareni workers.
He said the Congress government had filled 3,389 posts in Singareni and provided 4,237 compassionate appointments.
Sridhar Babu also highlighted the government's decision to extend insurance coverage of Rs 1 crore to workers to provide financial security.
