Continuity and ambitions in first Bihar Cabinet meeting

The newly elected Bihar Government on Tuesday held its first Cabinet meeting. At the meeting, the Cabinet approved a strategy to provide employment and Government jobs to one crore youth over the next five years and further decided to continue the Jeevika Didi scheme, which was instrumental in the resounding victory of NDA Government in the State.
It was also decided that the Government with the help of experts, will also prepare a detailed action plan to transform Bihar into a global back-end hub and a global workplace. Besides these, approval was given to 10 agenda items to implement the promises made in its NDA’s election manifesto for the Bihar assembly polls this month.
“Under Saat Nischay-2, between 2020 and 2025, 5 million (50 lakh) youth have already been provided with Government jobs and employment. For the upcoming five years (2025-30), a target has been set to provide employment and jobs to 10 million youth. This has been planned keeping Bihar’s large youth population in mind,” Bihar Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit told The Pioneer.
To prepare the action plan for the technology hub and to ensure continuous monitoring, a high-level committee has been formed under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary of Bihar. Preparations are also underway to establish the Bihar Artificial Intelligence Mission. The goal is to establish Bihar as a leading centre in AI, thereby boosting development in the State.
On the financial aid to women, a senior Bihar official said that is a continuation of the process and the beneficiaries will receive the sanctioned amount as and when scheduled for each of them, Government sources said that the Cabinet also decided to revive nine closed sugar mills in the State, while 25 new sugar mills will be established. Other decisions of the cabinet include promoting urban development, green townships will be developed in the nine divisional cities along with Sonepur and Sitamarhi.
