CM Rekha to launch Delhi lakshmi portal, register first Beneficiary
The Delhi Government will formally launch the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana on Saturday, August 1, with Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurating the online portal at a programme scheduled for 11 am at the District Magistrate East office in Geeta Colony. Post-inauguration, the applications from eligible women will open, and the Government will aim to complete verification in time to release the first instalment by Raksha Bandhan.
During the launch programme, the Chief Minister will personally register a few eligible women, marking the formal beginning of the application process. Applications from all other eligible beneficiaries will be accepted through the portal thereafter. The scheme provides Rs 2,500 in monthly financial assistance to eligible women aged 21 to 60. A provision of Rs 5,110 crore has been made in the 2026-27 Budget, and the scheme is expected to benefit over 17 lakh women across Delhi.
The Chief Minister said the Delhi Government has fulfilled one of its key promises to women and that the scheme is designed to strengthen their dignity, financial security, and self-reliance. She appealed to all eligible women to apply for the scheme and avail its benefits.
The launch on August 1 sets a compressed operational timeline. The Government must process applications, complete eligibility verification, and disburse the first instalment before Raksha Bandhan, which falls in August. Completing that cycle for a large beneficiary base across 13 districts within weeks of portal launch is the administrative test the scheme now faces.
Eligibility under the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana requires that applicants be women between 21 and 60 years of age with a family annual income not exceeding Rs 2.50 lakh. Women who already receive benefits under any other Government financial assistance scheme or pension, income taxpayers, GST return filers, Government employees, women with more than three living children, families with annual electricity consumption exceeding 2,400 units, families with a member employed by any Government or PSU, families owning a four-wheeler, and women with a criminal record are not eligible.
