Bulldozers demolish office linked to Abhishek Banerjee in Bengal, heavy police deployment in Amtala

Heavy police deployment was witnessed in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district on Saturday as authorities carried out a demolition drive at a party office linked to Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee in Amtala. Bulldozers were brought in to raze the structure after the district administration alleged that it had been constructed without the required approvals and violated building regulations.
Officials said notices had been issued before the action, and the demolition was undertaken as part of an enforcement drive against unauthorised constructions. A large police presence was maintained in the area to prevent any disruption to law and order during the operation. Supporters of the Trinamool Congress gathered near the site, while BJP leaders described the move as a lawful administrative action.
The development comes amid heightened political tensions in West Bengal following the recent change in the state's political landscape. The demolition has triggered sharp reactions from political leaders, with both sides accusing each other of pursuing politically motivated actions. Authorities, however, maintained that the operation was carried out strictly in accordance with legal and administrative procedures.
