BJP will rule West Bengal for three generations: CM Suvendu

The BJP Government would rule West Bengal for the next three generations, during which it would do a great deal for the people of the State, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Monday said.
Adhikari’s “three generations remarks come close on the heels of his reiteration of the pledge to implement the uniform civil code, which he promised to implement in six years.
Informing that he had urged the Union Government to resume a direct flight between Kolkata and Europe, he said, “There is no hurry... Have patience and watch us perform because this Government will rule for a very long time ... It will be there for three generations,” Adhikari said, adding, “I have urged Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu to introduce direct flights from Kolkata to European countries including the UK.”
His statement came as his government signed an agreement with the Civil Aviation Ministry to implement the regional connectivity scheme UDAN in the State.
Under the scheme, Bengal would get four new airports in the next two years. Two airports would be built at Charra in Purulia and Kalaikunda in West Midnapore; two others would be constructed at Balurghat in South Dinajpur and Hasimara in Alipurduar district.
The Union Government had committed `29,000 crore for the State’s aviation sector. This amount would be spent over 10 years, sources in the Government said.
The Chief Minister’s “three generations” statement comes close on the heels of his promise the implement a Uniform Civil Code in West Bengal within six months.
He said that his Government was committed to implementing UCC and it would be implemented in Bengal apart from stringent laws on “love jihad” (religious conversion through marriage) and “land jihad” (grabbing lands through purchase).
He said, “I am giving you my word. Very soon, after Uttarakhand and Gujarat, UCC will be implemented in West Bengal. I am giving you my word, give me six months.”
