Assailants chase Gurugram man over old enmity, ram his car, fire shots in air; three held
Some men aboard an SUV allegedly rammed another car with their vehicle in Gurugram and fired several shots in the air over an old rivalry, with police arresting three persons in this connection, an official said on Sunday
According to police, a man lodged a complaint on August 26 stating on the previous night, when he was returning from a function in Dauhla village, some men aboard a Scorpio cut off his vehicle, rammed the SUV into it and even fired gunshots in the air.
He somehow managed to bypass the assailants and escape from the spot. However, the accused allegedly chased him down and, once again, rammed his car near Subhash Chowk.
Based on the complaint, a case was registered at Sohna Sadar police station, police said.
Subsequently, a crime branch team arrested the three accused on Saturday from the Sohna-Harchandpur Road.
They were identified as Naveen, Ankush, and Rohit Lohia alias Shanky -- all residents of Gurugram.
"During interrogation, it was revealed that the complainant and accused Naveen had an old personal rivalry stemming from an earlier fight and the accused committed the offence due to the enmity," a senior official said.
Verification of criminal record has revealed that Naveen is involved in four criminal cases registered in Gurugram, including those of murder and assault, the official said.
The Scorpio vehicle allegedly used in the crime has been impounded, and further probe is underway, he added.
