Arunachal Unveils ? 6,519-Crore Power Sector Overhaul to Boost Efficiency and Cut Losses

The Arunachal Pradesh government has launched a ? 6,519-crore plan to revamp its power sector, aiming to reduce losses, modernize infrastructure, and ensure reliable electricity across the state. Chief Minister Pema Khandu outlined the initiative, which includes ? 788 crore to tackle longstanding technical and commercial losses, especially in remote regions. Smart meters and upgraded grids will be introduced for real-time monitoring and efficient billing. The government will also provide gap funding to bridge the cost-recovery divide, ensuring fiscal sustainability. The plan is expected to catalyze growth in industrial and rural sectors while creating a power-secure future for the state.
