Army holds outreach programme for Veeranganas, kin at Amingaon

Demonstrating its continued commitment to the welfare of military families, the Indian Army organised an outreach programme for Veeranganas and Next of Kin (NOKs) of soldiers categorised as physical casualties at Amingaon on Wednesday.
The programme was conducted under the aegis of Headquarters 51 Sub Area and organized by 236 Inland Water Transport (IWT) Unit in collaboration with the Rajya Sainik Board, Assam, and the Assam Regimental Centre (ARC) Records.
The initiative focused on resolving documentation-related issues and ensuring that beneficiaries receive their rightful financial entitlements and welfare benefits.
A total of 122 Veeranganas and NOKs from Kamrup (Rural), Nalbari, and adjoining districts participated in the event. Officials addressed a wide range of welfare concerns during the programme, including pension-related matters, one-time grant claims, Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) card issues, and benefits pertaining to dependent children and specially abled family members.
Dedicated registration and grievance redressal cells were established to facilitate prompt resolution of beneficiaries’ concerns.
To provide immediate assistance, ARC Records, Shillong, set up a Mini Records Office at the venue, enabling on-the-spot settlement of documentation and records-related issues. A comprehensive data-sheet registration drive was also carried out to verify beneficiaries’ entitlements and enhance awareness about the various welfare schemes available to them.
A key highlight of the programme was the one-on-one interaction sessions between Veeranganas, NOKs, and senior military and welfare officials. Representatives from Headquarters 51 Sub Area, the Family Welfare Organisation, Rajya Sainik Board Assam, and the Zila Sainik Welfare Office directly engaged with participants to address individual grievances and provide guidance on welfare-related matters.
The outreach programme reinforced the Indian Army’s dedication to supporting Veeranganas and the families of soldiers by ensuring timely assistance, transparent grievance redressal mechanisms, and greater awareness of welfare entitlements.
