Armed Force Veterans Day celebrated in Guwahati

10th Armed Forces Veterans Day was celebrated with grandeur at Air Force Station Guwahati on 14 January 2026 by paying solemn tribute to the valiant veterans of the Indian Armed Forces. The event was graced by Air Marshal Surat Singh, Air Officer Commanding-in Chief, Eastern Air Command as the Chief Guest, who lauded the enduring legacy of selfless service and sacrifices made by ex-servicemen in safeguarding the nation.
The ceremony commenced with a poignant wreath-laying at the War Memorial by the Chief Guest. Addressing the august gathering of over 1500 veterans, serving personnel, veer naris and families, AOC-in-C highlighted the Government’s unwavering commitment to veterans’ welfare, including enhanced pension reforms and healthcare under ECHS and skill development initiatives. The Chief Guest also interacted with veterans on key issues like resettlement and empanelment of medical facilities.
The programme featured felicitation of senior veterans and exhibition on welfare schemes by agencies like KSB, DAV and PCDA. Interaction stalls facilitated on-the-spot resolutions for pension and medical queries, benefiting numerous exservicemen. Air Force Station Guwahati expresses profound gratitude to all the veterans for gracing the occasion and reaffirms its resolve to uphold the ethos of ‘Samreshu Parakram in service of the veteran community.
