Missing Haryana Congress leaders emerge days after FIR, Granted Bail
Congress district presidents Vardhan Rao and Pankaj Dawar, who were reported missing after waving black flags at Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini’s convoy on August 21, have been granted bail following their reappearance in Gurugram.
The two leaders presented themselves late Monday night at the office of Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Karan Goyal.
Their appearance came hours after extensive party agitation led by Congress state chief Rao Narendra Singh and former state president Udaybhan, who staged a demonstration outside the Gurugram Police Commissioner's office to protest the leaders' unaccounted disappearance.
Addressing party workers, Rao Narendra Singh demanded the immediate cancellation of the FIR filed against the two leaders and called for strict departmental action against police personnel who allegedly assaulted youth workers during the demonstration.
On August 21, police arrested eight Congress workers on charges of breaching VIP security arrangements and obstructing government work after they waved black flags at Saini's convoy as it arrived in Gurugram.
Vardhan Rao led that protest.
The Gurugram police have yet to issue an official statement. (with inputs from PTI)
