Anuj Agnihotri tops civil services exam 2025

Anuj Agnihotri, an MBBS graduate and an officer of the Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands Civil Service (DANICS), has topped the civil services examination 2025. The results were declared by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Friday.
Rajeshwari Suve M, who holds a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) from the Anna University, Chennai, achieved the second rank with Sociology as her optional subject, while Akansh Dhull, a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) graduate from the University of Delhi, stood third in the rank with commerce amd accountancy as his optional subject.
The top 10 candidates comprise three woman and seven men candidates. A total of 958 candidates have qualified the examination and are recommended for appointment to different central civil services, the Commission announced. The candidature of 348 recommended candidates has been kept provisional, while 258 other candidates have been put on a reserve list, the Commission said in a statement. The Centre had reported 1,087 vacancies to be filled through the civil services examination
Agnihotri was selected for the DANICS, in his first attempt and is currently undergoing training. He is originally from Rahata village in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.
When the result of the Civil Services Examination appeared, Anuj could not believe his eyes. Like many aspirants, he did not scream with joy.He said with a smile, recalling the moment, “I took time and went through the results again because only luck could bring such results.”His parents were beside him and the three of them sat on the floor, trying to absorb what had happened. “It takes time to process,” he added.
The examination process began with the prelims held on May 25, 2025. The main examination was conducted from August 22 to August 31, 2025. The final stage, the personality test or interview, concluded on February 27, 2026. As per past trends, UPSC usually declares the final result within about a week after the interviews end. The UPSC said the recommended candidates also include 42 Persons with Benchmark Disability -- 10 orthopedically handicapped, 14 visually challenged, nine hearing impaired and nine with multiple disabilities.
