Anugoonj@25: GGSIPU campus comes alive as silver jubilee cultural fest begins
The campus of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University came alive with colour, music and youthful energy as the University inaugurated the Silver Jubilee edition of Anugoonj, its annual cultural festival, marking 25 years of celebrating student talent, creativity and expression. The three-day festival was formally inaugurated in the presence of Mr. Shankar Sahney, renowned singer and performer, at the Dwarka Campus of the University.
Addressing the gathering, the Vice Chancellor described Anugoonj as more than a cultural fest, calling it “a living reflection of youth energy, creativity and social consciousness.” Highlighting the Silver Jubilee milestone, he said that over the past 25 years, Anugoonj has given a platform to countless dreams and will continue to empower future generations to find their voice and confidence.
The Vice Chancellor also linked the spirit of Anugoonj with the National Education Policy (NEP) and the growing recognition of the Orange Economy, emphasised in the Union Budget 2026, which positions creative industries, digital content, performing arts and media as important drivers of youth employment and economic growth.
Mr. Shankar Sahney, whose performances blend Bollywood, Punjabi beats and contemporary pop, spoke about the power of music as both expression and discipline. He also sang a medley of his popular punjabi songs.
Celebrating its Silver Jubilee, Anugoonj has grown into one of Delhi’s most anticipated university cultural festivals, bringing together students from over 100 affiliated institutions. Over the next three days, the campus will host a wide range of competitions and performances including music, dance, theatre, debate, poetry, storytelling, and contemporary creative arts.
Organised by the Directorate of Students’ Welfare (DSW) under the leadership of Director, Prof Manpreet Kaur Kang, Associate Directors Dr. Gaurav Talan and Dr. Vinay Shah, with the support of faculty members and student volunteers, Anugoonj continues to stand as a platform where talent meets opportunity and creativity finds direction.
