Another maternal death in Rajasthan after C-section complications, state toll rises to 19

Rajasthan has reported another maternal death linked to complications following a caesarean section, taking the total number of such deaths in government hospitals across the state to 19 over the past three months.
The latest victim, a 25-year-old woman, died at PBM Hospital in Bikaner after spending more than a month in intensive care following post-operative complications.
The growing number of maternal deaths has raised serious concerns about the quality of maternal healthcare and post-operative care in the state's public hospitals. According to official data, the deaths have been reported across multiple districts, including Kota, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Bhilwara, and Banswara, prompting calls for stronger oversight and accountability.
In response, the Rajasthan government has launched a five-day statewide screening campaign for pregnant women beginning July 15. Health teams will examine expectant mothers for high-risk conditions and monitor key health indicators in an effort to prevent further complications and improve maternal care.
Authorities are also continuing investigations into the recent deaths to determine whether any systemic lapses contributed to the tragedies.
