Amity wins Best Patent Portfolio (2020-25) Award

Amity University has been conferred with the “Best Patent Portfolio (2020-25) Award”, in the category of “Academic Institution- Private University and Top 30 IP Driven Organisations”, during 11th CII IP Industrial Awards-2025, held at the CII Global Summit on Technology, R and D and Intellectual Property, in New Delhi. The award was received by Dr Aseem Chauhan, Chancellor Amity University and Dr Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor Amity University Uttar Pradesh, presented by Professor Ashutosh Sharma, Chairman, CII Industrial IP Awards.

Accepting the Award, Dr Aseem Chauhan, Chancellor Amity University, averred, “Amity University is extremely humbled by this honour bestowed upon us by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Patents play an important role in fostering research and innovation, and we aim to protect the intellectual property of the innovations of our scientists and researchers.

Today, India ranks 38th in the Global Innovation Index (GII) 2025, positi-oning itself as a leading innovator, reflecting strong Government focus, improved knowledge outputs and contribution. With more than 2,500 Patents filed and more than 300 granted, Amity stands committed to creating a knowledge-driven society, which can contribute significantly to ViksitBharat@2047.”

Congratulating Amity University, Professor Ashutosh Sharma, Chairman CII Industrial IP Awards, stated, “We are glad to confer the Award to Amity University, an institution which has been dedicated to transforming the research landscape of the country. As we stand at the threshold of innovation-driven economic transformation, India stands at the 6th position globally in patents filing, the role of IP is becoming very important as India is emerging from being a knowledge consumer to a global knowledge creator.”

Dr Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor Amity University Uttar Pradesh, said, “We are extremely grateful to CII for conferring this honour upon us. The Award will act as a catalyst to our constant efforts in advancing scientific development of the country.” CII Industrial Intellectual Property Award aims at recognition and celebration of enterprises, which have championed IP generation and protection to fuel their business and economic growth.

The awards encourage organisations to foster a culture of IP and its commercialisation by acknowledging the achievements of enterprises in public domain while setting up linkages with academic and research institutions in India and abroad.
