2 killed 35 injured after sleeper bus crashes into truck on Agra Lucknow Expressway

2 people, including a bus driver, were killed and 35 passengers injured after a sleeper bus rammed into a rice-laden truck on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Uttar Pradesh’s Mainpuri district.
The accident took place near milestone 83 under the Karhal police station area when the bus was travelling from Gonda to Delhi carrying around 70 passengers. Police said the front portion of the bus was severely damaged in the collision.
According to officials, the driver is suspected to have briefly dozed off, causing the bus to crash into the truck from behind. Rescue teams rushed to the spot and evacuated trapped passengers from the damaged vehicle.
Police said the driver, identified as Ram Jeevan, was trapped between the steering wheel and seat and had to be rescued using a Hydra machine. Another deceased passenger was identified as Ram Naresh from Gonda district.
All injured passengers were shifted to Saifai Medical College for treatment. Officials said the injured received medical care and were later discharged.
