The "Coffee with the SDM" event took place on Wednesday. It drew young people from the Garhwa region. They came to the sub-divisional office auditorium after being invited by the SDO. The youth shared their concerns and offered suggestions to improve Garhwa.
Mubarak Ansari, a civil engineering student from Birbandha, raised an important issue. He pointed out that construction companies working on national highways are hiring workers from outside the area. He believes it would be better if qualified local workers were given job opportunities.
Juhi Kumari, a B.Ed student from Lagma, and Kashmira Khatun talked about their struggles commuting from their village to college on Rehla Road. They suggested introducing pink autos or pink buses like those in other cities. This would make travel easier for female students.
The students proposed setting up a special library for girls. They noted that girls often feel uncomfortable in mixed libraries. A separate library would encourage more girls to participate.
Manas Pandey suggested that technical students in Garhwa need support to find internships in local government offices and hospitals. The SDO promised to help and advised all students to register on the Government of India's "Mera Bharat" portal to find internships.
Sanjay, the sub-divisional officer, told the attendees about the National Career Service portal. He stressed the need to keep an updated profile there. He also encouraged them to call the toll-free number 1514 for career-related questions, available daily from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
During the session, the officer answered a question about young entrepreneurs. He mentioned various schemes from the Centre and state governments for starting new businesses. He recommended registering on the Startup India web portal to learn about eligibility and funding.
He also said that students can now take online courses in artificial intelligence, data science, and other subjects from top institutions like IITs and IIMs. These resources are available through the government's "SWAYAM portal." For online learning materials, they were directed to use the Diksha app or e-pathshala.
The discussion included contributions from Shubham Kesari, Ritika Kesari, Brijesh Kumar, Kashmira Khatun, Priyanka Kumari, Anupriya Gupta, Sanjana Kumari, Manas Pandey, Juhi Kumari, Harinder Thakur, Mubarak Ansari, and Ahmed Raza, all sharing their thoughts.
