Thursday, 16 January 2025 | PNS | Ranchi

Chief Secretary Alka Tiwari has directed to solve the problem in starting all the 34 coal blocks allotted by the government. She said that the sooner these coal blocks start, the sooner economic activities will start in that area. While this will create new employment opportunities, it will also increase the revenue of the state government. She directed all the concerned parties to work on a war footing for this. The CS was reviewing the solution to the problem in starting the allotted coal blocks on Wednesday under her chairmanship.

During the review, it was found that in starting most of the allotted coal blocks, there are problems related to land acquisition, calculation of rates, compensation, forest clearance, land transfer, drain, river and road passing through the coal block land. At some places, law and order problems were also faced. The Chief Secretary directed all the concerned Deputy Commissioners to solve these problems within a time limit. During the review itself, it became clear that mining can be started immediately from 4 out of 34 coal blocks, Rajhara of Palamu, Tubed of Latehar, Badam and Moitra of JSW located in Hazaribagh district.

These coal mines will become operational within a week. At the same time, the problem of the other 9 coal blocks has also been almost solved. Their operation is also likely to be done as soon as possible. Regarding the remaining coal blocks, the Chief Secretary directed to solve their problems as well and make them operational as soon as possible.

The Chief Secretary also directed the representatives of the allotted coal blocks to provide the necessary documents to the concerned departments and district administration in time. Coordinate with the administration and solve the problems being faced in operationalizing the coal blocks. She said that wherever there is a law and order problem, develop goodwill and harmony among the people. Coal companies should open offices on the site and work under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and start the mining process by taking people into confidence and completing the necessary formalities. At the same time, to solve the problems being faced in starting the coal blocks of State PSUs, he stressed on the concerned government officials to work with extra activism.
