TN players clinch 5 medals in U-14 athletics at 68th National Games

At the 68th National School Sports Competition, on the third day of Under- 14 boys and girls athletics competition, the players from Tamil Nadu won five medals and excelled.

Amongst the girls, Varshika from Tamil Nadu clinched the gold medal in the 80- meter hurdle race where as Nagar Lavishka from Gujarat got the silver medal and Gyani Nakshathar from Telangana got the bronze medal. In the high jump competition Dhanya also from Tamil Nadu grabbed the gold medal and Nivetha got the silver medal. Naisa of Kerala got the bronze medal in the girls' high jump competition.

In the boys' 1 kg discus throw, Abhiraj Kumar of Vidyabharati got the gold medal, Tharanesh of Tamil Nadu got the silver and Guleli Chandra of Andhra Pradesh got the bronze medal. In the girls' 1 kg discus throw, Monica Bishnoi of Rajasthan got the gold medal, Jewel Singh of Punjab got the silver medal and Bhumika Jalal of Uttarakhand got the bronze medal.

In the boys' 400 meter race, Mo. Sameer Khan of Uttar Pradesh bagged the gold medal followed by Inba Tamilan of Tamil Nadu and Surya of Haryana who got the silver and bronze medals respectively. In the girls' 400 meter race, Devika of Rajasthan grabbed the gold medal, Jahnavi of Maharashtra the silver medal and S Krithika of Kendriya Vidyalaya the bronze medal.

In the boys' 80 meter race, Akash Raj and Suraj Yadav, both from Bihar got the gold and silver medals respectively while Munthala of Andhra Pradesh got the bronze medal. Emmanuel Kisku from the host state Jharkhand completed the race in 11.11 seconds and finished at the fourth position.

The winners were awarded medals by Jharkhand Education Project Council Administrative Officer Sachchidanand Divendu Tigga, Organizing Secretary Dheersen A. Soreng, Assistant Program Officer Seema Prasad, Jharkhand Olympic Association's General Secretary Dr. Madhukant Pathak, Jharkhand Athletics Association's President CD Singh and General Secretary Shiv Kumar Pandey were also present on the occasion.
