In the midst of rising cybercrimes targeting hapless citizens, city-based NGO Seva Bharti Madhya Bharat has launched a cyber awareness week in association with the Quick Heal Foundation.
Kicking off the campaign, street plays were staged and held by actors Yogesh Shetty, Sandeep Shingdane, Krishna Sakpal, Krishna Navale, Nilesh Mane, and Gaurav Nimkar, who informed people of ways to avoid being targeted by online swindlers.
Through the plays, viewers were apprised of the dangers of sharing OTPs, posting high-quality personal photos, clicking suspicious links, and taking calls from unknown numbers.
According to Bhagwan Das Dhali of Seva Bharti, this awareness campaign is being run in schools, colleges, temples, markets, and prominent traffic junctions.
The programme is guided by Rashtriya Seva Bharati executive member Ramendra Singh, Madhya Bharat Prant Sangathan Mantri Surendra Singh Solanki, Provincial Secretary Vimal Tyagi, Provincial Treasurer Raj Narayan Agnihotri, and Provincial Manager Ganesh Singh.
This initiative is also paying special attention to the prevention of cybercrimes such as sextortion and digital arrest.
The campaign comes in the wake of a sudden spurt in cybercrimes, especially digital arrest cases, in the state capital over the last few months.
Speaking to The Pioneer, campaign coordinator for the Quick Heal Foundation, Yogesh, said that the team has arrived in the state capital from Maharashtra to heighten awareness against online misdemeanours.
