Following the death of a protester during a demonstration by the Displaced Apprentices' Union near the ADM Building of Bokaro Steel Limited (BSL), Deputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav convened a high-level meeting late Thursday night and initiated urgent steps.
The meeting was attended by SP Manoj Swargiyari, BSL Executive Director, CISF DIG, Additional Collector Md. Mumtaz Ansari, and Chas SDO Pranjal Dhanda. In view of the seriousness of the incident, the DC ordered the arrest of BSL’s Chief General Manager (HR), Hari Mohan Jha.
Later, talks between BSL management and the Displaced Apprentices' Union led to an agreement. BSL has committed to creating posts within 21 days and completing the appointment process for trained apprentices within three months. Coaching facilities will also be provided to trainees.
BSL announced 20 lakh compensation for the deceased’s family, along with contractual employment for one member. Injured persons will receive free treatment at BGH and 10,000 compensation.
Monthly review meetings will be held on the 15th of each month for unresolved issues, with the involvement of the District Employment Officer and Additional Collector. The DC has asked officials to ensure proper implementation of the decisions.
DC Vijaya Jadhav and SP Manoj Swargiyari have appealed for peace and cooperation to maintain law and order.
