Police arrest four armed robbers, recover looted silver and cash

In a major breakthrough, the Dhar Police have arrested four miscreants involved in a violent armed robbery at a residence in Katarkheda village, seizing looted silver jewelry worth Rs 4.5 lakh and Rs 50,000 in cash. The crime, which took place in the early hours of March 28, saw a gang of 10-15 armed miscreants storm the house of complainant Baksingh Kharte, holding his family hostage at gunpoint before making off with valuables.

According to the police report, the robbers arrived at the village in a Tufan vehicle and hid it in a nearby forest before proceeding on foot to Baksingh’s house. They forcibly took his wife and children hostage, broke open a cupboard, and looted 4.5 kg of silver ornaments along with Rs 50,000 in cash. After locking the family inside the house, they escaped in their vehicle. Baksingh managed to alert the neighbors through a window, following which a complaint was registered at Dahi police station under IPC Section 10(2).

Recognizing the gravity of the incident, DIG/SP Dhar Manoj Kumar Singh, along with teams from the Cyber Cell and Crime Branch, visited the crime scene and assured the victim that the culprits would be swiftly apprehended. Under his leadership, a special investigation team was formed to track down the accused.

Based on evidence gathered, the police arrested Jugan Dawar from a dhaba in Tanda on April 2. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime and revealed the involvement of accomplices Bhadaksingh, Kalia, Bhikiya, Jhiniya, Santosh, Sumal, Ramesh, Sohan, Mehar Singh, and Sardar. He disclosed that the stolen silver was sold to Pappu of Tanda and Rakesh Bhil of Geta for Rs 1.45 lakh. The proceeds were divided among the gang members.

Following Jugan’s lead, police arrested Bhadaksingh Bhil, Pappu alias Krishna, and Rakesh Bhil, recovering the stolen silver jewelry and Rs 50,000 in cash. The stolen items included silver bangles, bracelets, necklaces, anklets, rings, and other ornaments totaling 4.5 kg. The accused were presented before the court, while efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining absconding members of the gang.

All arrested individuals have prior criminal records in multiple police stations. The police have warned criminal elements that such acts will not be tolerated, and strict legal action will be taken.
