Bhopal witnessed a rare and significant demonstration on Wednesday morning as Muslim women took to the streets in support of the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2024. Holding roses and posters featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the women gathered near Hatai Kheda Dam in Anandpura Kokta, expressing their gratitude towards the Prime Minister. Many chanted slogans such as "Modi ji, keep fighting, we are with you."

The demonstration was pre-planned, with Mohseen Ul Haq of Rahmat Masjid, Hatai Kheda, Kokta, inviting media representatives to cover the event. This marked the first time in Bhopal that Muslim women publicly rallied in favor of PM Modi regarding the Waqf Amendment Bill.

Madhya Pradesh BJP spokesperson Narendra Saluja shared a video on social media platform X, capturing the celebratory mood. The footage showed women and enthusiastic youth engaging in drum beats, dancing, and fireworks, while chants of "Long live Narendra Modi!" echoed through the gathering.

The Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2024 was tabled in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju. The proposed amendment seeks to address long-standing concerns related to the Waqf Act of 1995, which has faced criticism over mismanagement, corruption, and encroachments of Waqf properties.

With both the ruling BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the Opposition’s INDI bloc issuing whips to their MPs, the debate over the bill continued intensely. Given the lack of bipartisan consensus, the bill’s fate is likely to be determined by the strength of numbers on the floor of the House.
