Sarhul festival is being celebrated with traditional gaiety and devotion by the tribal community in Jharkhand. In this sequence, the 29th Sarhul Puja Festival was organized by Adivasi 22 Padaha Sarna Samiti Ormanjhi Kanke at Mayapur Sarna Sthal in Kanke, Ranchi on Wednesday. On this occasion, Chamra Linda, Minister of Scheduled Caste, Tribe and Backward Class Welfare Department, participated and emphasized on preserving the cultural identity and traditions of the tribal society.
Linda said that it is very important to preserve the tribal culture. In Sarhul festival, dance should be done on the tunes of traditional Mandar and Nagada, and not through modern DJ and film songs. He said, "Our ministry is working for tribal welfare and we are committed to educate and empower the tribal society."
The Minister, while highlighting various schemes for the uplift of the tribal community, said that Schools, tuition centers, colleges and hospitals will be opened to advance the tribal and OBC community. He said that education and health services will also be expanded for the Harijan community. The government will work to build the boundary of all Sarna sites in the Chhotanagpur region, he added.
Linda said that to save the traditional heritage of the tribal society, the government has decided to distribute Mandar-Nagadas worth Rs 15 crore. He said that every effort will be made to keep the original spirit of Sarhul festival alive.
Emphasizing on the struggle to get recognition for Sarna religion, Minister Linda said that as long as we keep struggling, we will be able to preserve our culture. If the central government does not give Sarna Code, we will come out on the streets and protest. If necessary, we will also be ready to shut down the entire state.
He appealed to all the people of the society to unite and support this movement and said that "Struggle is life. We have to fight together and get our rights.”
