For the first time in Jharkhand, the State Level FLN (Foundational Literacy and Numeracy) Championship is being organided by the School Education and Literacy Department of the State Government in collaboration with Leap for Word. The top 216 students from the school, block and district level competitions will get a chance to participate in the State level FLN Championship.

In this competition, students of classes 2 to 5 of government schools will showcase their creative presentation skills and talent in the subjects- Mathematics, Hindi and English. The semi- finals of this competition will be organised on the lines of the prestigious Word Power Championship and will be held on April 3, 2025 at Jharkhand Council of Educational Research and Training, Ratu.

The top 72 students selected in the semi- finals will get an opportunity to showcase their talent in the final competition scheduled to be held on April 4, 2025 at Shaurya Auditorium, Doranda, Ranchi. Arrangements for the accommodation and food for students and parents from Ramgarh, Hazaribagh, Dhanbad and Bokaro will be made at the BSNL Training Center whereas accommodation and food arrangements for participants and parents of the remaining districts will be made at JCERT, Ratu. As many as 179 teachers from across the State will also participate in the State level competition.

Winners of the State level FLN Championship in the English subject will get a chance to represent Jharkhand at the National Word Power Championship to be held in Mumbai. This will develops competitive and leadership skills in these students at an early age. The winning students of the other two subjects- Hindi and Mathematics of the State level FLN Championship will also be taken on a tour to Mumbai. The entire arrangement for the students' transportation to Mumbai and their accommodation in Mumbai will be made by the School Education and Literacy Department of the State Government.

Jharkhand was the national champion of Word Power Championship 2023. The talented students of the government schools of the State brought the title of National Champion to Jharkhand by giving creative and accurate answers to the difficult English words. Like last year, this year also the School Education and Literacy Department has made preparations to make Jharkhand the champion of this national competition. The winning students of the State level Word Power Championship will also be given special training before the National Word Power Championship so as to develop self-confidence and a competitive spirit in them.

Word Power Championship is a prestigious educational competition and is organised every year. It aims to improve the language skills of children, especially vocabulary, spelling and meaning of words in the English language and encourage their talent. School children from classes 2 to 5 from rural and urban areas participate in this prestigious competition. In this, participants get a chance to show their ability in various activities related to reading, writing and use of words.

On the lines of Word Power Championship, FLN Championship is being organised for the first time in the State. This competition will not only promote the linguistic development of children but will also develop confidence and competitive spirit in them.
