Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL) of the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has been chosen as the first unit within SAIL to implement the Confederation of Indian Industry’s (CII) GreenCo Rating System. This initiative aims to enhance sustainability practices and improve environmental performance.
The GreenCo Rating System evaluates industries on ten key areas, including energy efficiency, renewable energy, water conservation, waste management, and greenhouse gas reduction. It provides a lifecycle-based approach to sustainability and categorizes companies from Platinum+ to Certified, encouraging continuous improvement.
The inauguration took place on January 8 at the HRD Main Auditorium, led by Acting DI Ranjani and attended by all Executive Directors. The event included a welcome address by NP Srivastava, a vote of thanks by Anupama Tiwari, and presentations by the CII GreenCo team and AGM (Environment), Nitesh Ranjan, on BSL’s environmental initiatives.
The three-day program, running until January 10, focuses on familiarizing participants with the GreenCo framework. Insights from the initiative will help determine its implementation across other SAIL units, aligning with SAIL’s commitment to sustainable industrial practices and environmental stewardship.
