To escape from police custody, a cyber fraud accused jumped from the third-floor balcony of the hotel and died after he hit the balcony of the opposite house, police said.
It is being said that during the investigation of a cyber fraud case, Madhya Pradesh Police had arrested four accused from a society in Dhunela village of Sohna on Tuesday.
According to the police, the Gwalior ATS team was staying on the third floor of the Saffron Oyo Hotel in front of Sohna's general bus stand with four accused who were arrested in the cybercrime case.
"At around 1 pm on Tuesday, an accused Himanshu, a resident of Sukhshin village in Madhepura district of Bihar, asked to go to the toilet but he did not go to the bathroom and went towards the balcony next to it. To escape from police custody, he jumped down using the wire attached to the pole in front of the balcony.
But while jumping, he could not hold the wire and fell. His head hit the ground while being dragged along the pole. He suffered serious injuries," a police officer privy to the matter said.
The police team took him to Sohna Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. It is said that the Madhya Pradesh Police did not inform the Gurugram Police about this action.
"The body was sent for postmortem and the family were informed. The postmortem will be conducted by the board in Gurugram on Wednesday," Sandeep Kumar, a spokesperson of the Gurugram police said.
