Young Indians making ‘water warriors’ for water conservation

Saturday, 30 March 2024 | PNS | Jamshedpur

A session was organised at Dayanand Public School in Sakchi as part of Jal Yoddha programme, a water awareness campaign run by CII Young Indians for water conservation. It is an annual program of CII Young Indians. Under this, the members of Young Indians are organizing awareness sessions in various schools to make the children aware and motivated to save water. The awareness session held at Dayanand Public School on Thursday was conducted by Fiona Saraogi, Shalu Khaitan and Poonam Tulsyan.

They informed children about Jal Yoddha Abhiyan and their methods to save water. Under this, a water warrior report card is also being given to the children, through which they will prepare a record of water consumption in their home. Based on this, it will be known which work consumes more water and on this basis, efforts will be made to reduce it.

There are 10 questions in this score card of Young Indians, for which 80 marks are fixed and children who score more than 70 marks will be considered Jal Yoddha. Along with this, those scoring 60 to 70 would be considered to be on their way to becoming a water warrior, those with 50 to 60 points are close to being water warriors and those below 50 would be encouraged to do so.

The initiative not only educates children about the importance of water conservation but also empowers them to take tangible actions in their daily lives to preserve this vital resource for future generations. Through such proactive measures, CII Young Indians strives to instill a culture of sustainability and environmental responsibility among the youth, paving the way for a greener and more water-secure future.
