In a tragic incident, 11 people, including three children and six women, lost their lives in a collision between a tempo and a DCM truck in Hardoi on Wednesday.
Five others sustained injuries and they were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The accident took place near Roshanpur village on Bilgram-Bilhaur highway in Hardoi district when a passenger tempo overturned on Bilhaur-Katra state highway while trying to avert collision with a DCM truck on Wednesday morning.
Eleven people were killed in the accident – seven on the spot and four in hospital during treatment. The condition of five injured was said to be critical.
Police and relief teams were immediately rushed to the spot on getting news about the accident.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed condolences to the families of the deceased. He also directed the officials to take immediate action and also ordered proper treatment of the injured.
Police are searching for the DCM driver, who fled from the spot after the accident.
Police said only seven deceased had been identified so far. They include Madhuri Devi (40) of Majh village, Sunita of Patian Purva village, Neelam (60) wife of Raja Ram of Itoli Bilgram, Satyam Kushwaha son of Pappu Patel Nagar East Madhoganj, Radha wife Rakesh Itoli Bilgram, Sunita’s daughter Ashi (8) of Alok Madhoganj, Radha Devi, and her aunt.
