All the markets of the state capital Bhopal would be shut at 11 pm from Wednesday. Hospitals and medical stores will get exemption.

A few days ago, BJP leaders had demanded implementation of the Gumasta Act in the entire city. He had also given an application to Collector Ashish Singh. A day earlier, on Tuesday night, the police had also gone to the markets and made an announcement.

Now action will be taken to seal shops if shops are kept open after 11 pm. Shopkeepers are also being given advice in the announcement.

General Secretary of Bhopal Traders Federation, Anupam Aggarwal said that he welcomes the decision of the administration. All shopkeepers will follow the order.

On December 15, BJP leaders along with former mayor Alok Sharma had come to meet Collector Singh. During this, he had said that the Gumasta Act was not being followed in the old city. Shops here remain open 24 hours. These shops should close at 10 pm.

Police officers have advised traders to close shops before 11 pm.

Shops in New Market, Bitton close at 10 pm.

Former Mayor Sharma had said that shops in New Market, MP Nagar, Jumerati, Hanumanganj, Chowk Bazaar, Sarafa Bazaar, Hamidia Road, Bitton Market, Bairagarh, Kolar Road and other areas of the city are closed by 10 pm. At the same time, shops in markets like Qazi Camp, Lakshmi Talkies, Budhwara, Chowki Imamwada, Char Batti, Imami Gate, Itwara, Mangalwara, Shaban Square, Jinsi Market etc. remain open throughout the night. There is a gathering of anti-social elements at these places.

Due to this the young generation is getting addicted to drugs. Therefore, all the markets should be closed at the same time. In the Qazi Camp area, meat shops remain open throughout the night on the roadside.
