On National Farmers Day, Vedanta ESL, in partnership with NABARD and Gramin Seva Sangh (GSS), launched advanced drip irrigation systems under Project WADI to empower 500 tribal farmer families across eight villages in Bokaro’s Chas and Chandankiyari Blocks.
The project, aimed at sustainable agriculture and poverty reduction, has transformed 450 acres of barren land into orchards through fruit plantations, intercropping, and solar-powered irrigation. Additionally, 50 landless farmers have been supported through micro-enterprises such as poultry and goat farming.
The Kisan Diwas celebration featured cultural performances and participation from over 60 farmers. Tools like Conoweeders were distributed to improve farming efficiency. Speaking at the event, Kunal Daripa, Head CSR, ESL Steel, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to sustainable farming and rural development.
Supported by NABARD’s Tribal Development Fund, Project WADI continues to address the livelihood challenges of tribal families, fostering prosperity and environmental sustainability.
