Ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday launched round-the-clock water supply in Pandav Nagar Delhi Development Authority (DDA) flats in the Rajinder Nagar area.

Accompanied by Chief Minister Atishi and MLA Durgesh Pathak, the AAP Chief reaffirmed his commitment to achieving the city’s water requirement of 1,250 MGD in the coming years. “We promised clean water to every household in Delhi 24x7. Today, I am proud to announce that this mission has begun. Round-the-clock clean water supply has started in Rajinder Nagar and we will extend it to the entire Delhi in the coming times,” he said.

When we came to power 10 years ago in Delhi, around 50-60 per cent of water was supplied by tankers. There used to be tanker mafia. I am happy to say that today, after 10 years, 97 per cent of Delhi gets water by pipeline," the former chief minister said.

“When our government was formed, Delhi used to face power cuts of 8-10 hours daily. At that time, I promised that I would ensure 24x7 electricity, and I delivered on that promise. Today, you get an uninterrupted power supply. Now, my mission is to ensure 24x7 clean water supplies directly from your taps, with full pressure, even on the third and fourth floors. Today marks the beginning of that mission,” he added. Kejriwal claimed that while there has been a slight delay in delivering the promise of round the clock water supply because of the COVID-19 pandemic that lasted for 2.5 years, and the false cases they filed against us during this time.

“But we have overcome all these challenges. COVID-19 is behind us, and we have dealt with all their fake cases. Now that this initiative has started, I am personally very happy and confident that it will quickly spread across Delhi. In the next few years, we will ensure clean, 24x7 water supply to the entire city,” asserted Kejriwal. To show that the water was clean, Kejriwal drank water directly from the tap. The AAP chief was accompanied by Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and local MLA Durgesh Pathak.

The AAP has fielded Pathak from Rajinder Nagar co stituency for the Delhi assembly elections slated for February next year.
