On the directives of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the UP State Lalit Kala Akademi, in collaboration with Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, has launched an innovative initiative to engage the youth in visual arts.
This effort is part of the Culture department’s mission to enhance skill development among young people in Uttar Pradesh.
Starting from the academic session 2024-25, a regular 4-year Bachelor of Visual Arts (BVA) course in painting will be offered under the National Education Policy 2020.
The online application process for this course has commenced, with the deadline for submission of forms set for August 15, 2024 through the Samarth Portal of Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya.
Only Intermediate pass students are eligible for admission. State Lalit Kala Academy,
UP State Lalit Kala Akademi Director Dr Shraddha Shukla informed that the BVA (Painting) course will have 20 seats. The registration fee is Rs 500 for general and OBC candidates, and Rs 300 for SC, ST, EWS, and female candidates.
Applicants must have completed their intermediate education from any recognised inter college. Admission will be determined through an entrance exam and interview.
Dr Shraddha Shukla further mentioned that the semester fee for the course is Rs 6,000, with an additional examination fee of Rs 800.
During the BVA academic session, students will be trained in the renowned wash technique of Lucknow, which originated from the Bengal School of Arts and has become a hallmark of the city.
Students will also be taught various folk art styles. Additionally, the academy will promote cultural activities to ensure the holistic development of the students.
