Two teenagers have been arrested for allegedly killing a 49 year old vegetable vendor in an extortion-related case in southwest Delhi's Dwarka area.
According to the police on Monday, an incident of firing was reported in the area of Dwarka North police station on October 23, wherein it was informed that one vegetable vendor, namely Samarpal, was shot dead by two armed assailants. A case was registered under section 103 (Punishment for murder) of the BNS and 25 and 27 Arms Act in Dwarka North police station.
During investigation it was found that accused Aman wanted to extort money from the vendors and to maintain his monopoly he persuaded accused Prashant to shoot vegetable vendor.
A senior police officer said that with the help of CCTV footage, the police identified the two attackers as 18 year old Prashant and 19 year old Aman Siddiqui. First, the police arrested Prashant with local intelligence and the weapon used in the offence has been recovered on the accused's instance.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Ankit Singh said, “Co-accused Aman Siddiqui has also been arrested with the help of technical surveillance and information was received during interrogation of accused Prashant.”
During investigation, the police discovered that Aman had attempted to extort money from vendors to maintain his monopoly. “When Samarpal refused to comply, Prashant shot him,” the DCP said.
