Govindpura MLA and Minister Krishna Gaur presided over the closing ceremony of the two-day 'Diwali Skills Wali' festival at the Scope Global Skills University in the state capital on Saturday, as lilting Bollywood melodies played by the Army Brass Band created an atmosphere of nostalgia and gaiety.
A number of prominent citizens, academicians, and students attended the event, which opened with an inaugural speech by registrar Sitesh Kumar Sinha.
Those present on the occasion included Chancellor Siddharth Chaturvedi, Vice-Chancellor Ajay Bhushan, and Dean of Humanities and Liberal Arts Tina Tiwari.In her address, Gaur praised the initiative by the university, describing it as an important step in developing entrepreneurship among students. Chancellor Chaturvedi presented the outline of the programme, while Tina Tiwari delivered the vote of thanks.
The highlight of the second day was the performance by the Jat Band of the 3 EME Centre, which regaled the audience with their rendition of both new and old Bollywood songs. The vocalists included Subedar Barun Singha and Havildar M.H. Khan, with T.L. Kinsi on guitar, Naik Sunil Kumar on keyboard, Havildar Vipul Vishwas on octopad, Naik Rahul, and Havildar Nipun Rajmani.In the open mic segment, a large number of students and faculty displayed their talents, performing songs and dancing to Bollywood songs. Stand-up comedy was also presented by students.
Exhibition Featuring Home Décor and HandicraftsThe exhibition featured over 34 stalls showcasing various handicraft items and products. Items included zari-zardosi products, Dhakai silk sarees, Jamdani sarees, handmade scented candles, and home décor items.A major attraction at the festival was a weapon show by the Army, which displayed equipment such as grenade launchers, rocket launchers, sniper rifles, and medium machine guns.
