Traffic will be affected in central Delhi on Tuesday as a marathon will be flagged off as a part of the celebration of ‘Rashtriya Ekta Divas’, the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel starting from the morning hours .
According to a traffic advisory by the Delhi Police on Sunday, general public and motorists are hereby informed that as a part of the celebration of Rashtriya Ekta Divas, the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a 'Run for Unity' will be flagged off from Gate No. 1 of Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium on October 29 at 07:41 am.
The advisory further stated that about 7,700 participants will take part in the event who will reach the stadium in different vehicles. “Approximately 7700 participants will take part in the event. They will reach the venue in buses as well as cars. Therefore, traffic will be restricted towards India Gate, C-Hexagon from 06:45 am till completion of the function,” it read.
It added that the route for the run will start from gate number 1, Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, C-Hexagon, opposite Shahjahan Road and at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Statue.
Traffic will be diverted from Tilak Marg-Bhagwan Dass Road crossing, Purana Quila Road-Mathura Road crossing, Shershah Road-Mathura Road crossing, Dr Zakir Hussain Marg-Subramanian Bharti Marg crossing, Q-Point, roundabout Mansingh Road, roundabout Jaswant Singh Road, KG Marg-Firozshah Road crossing, and round about Mandi House.
The suggested routes available for general traffic from south Delhi to North Delhi and vice versa are Ring Road - Sarai Kale Khan - I.P. Flyover – Rajghat, Lala Lajpat Rai Marg - Mathura Road - W-Point-A-Point, Aurobindo Marg-Kamal Ataturk Marg-Kautilya Marg-Sardar Patel Marg-Mother Teresa Crescent - roundabout RML and continue, and Aurobindo Marg Aurobindo Chowk - Prithiviraj Chowk - roundabout MLNP Janpath or Rafi Marg Connaught Place New Delhi Railway Station (Chelmsford Road - Minto Road).
Further, for those travelling from east to west Delhi and vice versa, the suggested routes include I.P. Marg-A-Point - W-Point - Sikandra Road - Mandi House - Firozshah Road roubabout Windsor Place Shankar Road Ashok Road Gole Dak Khana RML, NH-09 Ring Road Bhairon Marg Mathura Road SBM - Q-Point Abdul Kalam Marg and continue, Ring Road ISBT Kashmere Gate - Boulevard Road - Rani Jhansi Flyover and continue and NH-09-Sarai Kale Khan - Barapula - AIIMS - Dhuala Kuan onwards.
