A 21-year-old man and his teenage cousin drowned in the Yamuna river in Delhi's Mayur Vihar area during Ganpati immersion.
According to the police officials on Wednesday, the incident occurred on Tuesday evening. “On Tuesday, a PCR call regarding the drowning of two boys in Yamuna was initially received at Mayur Vihar police station which was, later on, transferred to Sunlight Colony police station,” a senior police official said.
The officer added that on reaching the spot, it revealed that two young boys, who were cousin brothers, namely 21 years old Vishal, resident of Gaziabaad and 18 years old Tushar, resident of New Delhi drowned in Yamuna where they along with four other boys namely Ashok, Sumit, Divyansh and Krish came to Yamuna River for Ganesh Visarjan through passage near Crown Plaza
“At the time of Visarjan, the four boys including Vishal, Tushar, Divyansh and Krish entered into Yamuna River for immersion when the two boys Vishal, Tushar drowned into Yamuna River,” another officer added.
A senior police officer said that efforts are being made to trace them since late night and divers, boats, fire brigade and NDRF teams were called to the spot. “Rescue operation is going on however due to excess of water in Yamuna, there is no clue so far,” he said.
Vishal used to drive rapido bike and in his family, there are two brothers and one sister and his father Bobby is doing job in NDMC at Khan Market. Tushar was doing private job in Central Public Works Department. In his family, he has one elder sister and his father Mukesh is doing the job of housekeeping.
