The Delhi traffic police has issued advisories to the general public for Tuesday keeping in mind that the counting of votes will be going on at different locations for the Lok Sabha 2024 elections while informing them of traffic restrictions between 7:00 am in the morning to 10:00 pm at night.
Special traffic arrangements have been made around the location of the counting booths. “Talking about June 4, counting of votes will be held at Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya (SKV), Bharat Nagar, Delhi. There will be some traffic restrictions in the said area on June 4 from 7.00 AM to 10.00 PM,” police stated, adding that commuters can use different diversions point including Red Light, Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management College, Swami Narayan Marg and Red Light Bharat Nagar Ganda Nala. It also recommended Shankar Chowk near the Water Tank(Ch. Gulab Singh Marg) but only for heavy commercial vehicles
The advisory recommends to avoid Swami Narayan Marg, Satyawati College to Prerna Chowk (Ch. Gulab Singh Marg), Dr. Bheem Rao Ambedkar Marg JJ Colony Bharat Nagar and Ashok Vihar PH-1 Marg. Further, the police said that the counting for New Delhi Constituency will be conducted at Atal Adarsh Balika School Gole Market on June 4 from 08.00 am onwards, which may affect the traffic on surrounding roads
Talking about the traffic restrictions, a senior police official said, “No vehicle will be allowed to halt or park anywhere on Bhai Veer Singh Marg, kali Bari Marg, roundabout Gole Market and roundabout GPO. Vehicles found parked on the above roads shall be towed away and prosecuted for improper parking and disobedience of lawful instructions. Towed vehicles would be parked at Kali Bari Pit near CNG Pump at Udyan Marg.”
According to the advisory, travelers can use Roundabout Gole Market, Roundabout GPO, Kali Bari Red light Mandir Marg and Bhai Veer Singh Marg red light as diversion routes. Further, it stated that people should avoid Mandir Marg, Bhai Veer Singh marg, Gole Market and Kali Bari Marg.
“Counting of votes related to Northeast Delhi will take place at ITI Nand Nagri, Delhi.
The movement of traffic on the road stretch/carriageway from Gagan Cinema T-Point to Nand Nagri Flyover on Wazirabad road (Mangal Pandey Road) Delhi will be restricted from
5:00 am onwards,” the advisory read, adding that the traffic will be diverted from Bhopura border, Tahirpur T- point and Gagan cinema T-Point
Further, Wazirabad road (Mangal Pandey Road) will be closed for general traffic from 5:00 am onwards and traffic will be diverted from Gagan Cinema T-Point. General public are also advised to avoid the Wazirabad Road (Mangal Pandey Road) and Road No. 68 and 69 Nand Nagari from 5:00 AM onwards
Further, they informed that counting of votes will be at Commonwealth Games Village Akshardham Delhi and hence traffic restrictions in the said area will be there from 5 am onwards. “The commuters coming from Sarai Kale Khan/MGM side towards NH-24 will go straight towards Akshardham flyover and will take a left turn to reach Pusta Road/ITO/Vikas Marg to reach their destinations. The commuters coming from ITO/Pusta Road side will come upto Akshardham Flyover in front of Akshardham Temple and they will take U-Turn after crossing Akshardham Flyover and will come on NH -24 to reach their destinations towards Delhi,” the advisory read.
