The Traffic Police successfully resolved 718 unpaid e-challans, while an estranged couple was reunited as 62 benches under various courts heard pending cases during the Lok Adalat on Saturday.
The traffic police recovered Rs 2.52 lakh in fines, issued for traffic violations through the Integrated Traffic Management System (ITMS).
The Lok Adalat gave violators the opportunity to clear their outstanding fines either online or offline, avoiding further legal action. This initiative is part of Bhopal Traffic Police's ongoing efforts to streamline traffic law enforcement and promote timely payment of fines. Authorities have urged the public to comply with road safety rules and clear any pending e-challans to avoid additional penalties.
In a separate case, a husband and wife, who had been living separately for over a year following a minor dispute, reconciled after mediation by the court. The wife had filed a case under Section 125 of the Indian Penal Code for maintenance.
The couple appeared before Additional Principal Judge Varsha Sharma, who facilitated the reconciliation. With the judge’s intervention, the wife agreed to return to her husband, and the couple left the courtroom together, with the wife wearing a garland, symbolising their reconciliation.
The National Lok Adalat, organised across various courts in Madhya Pradesh, saw the resolution of cases related to civil, criminal, family disputes, and traffic fines, among others.
In addition, parties involved in cases resolved through the Lok Adalat were refunded the court fees they had paid previously. The initiative is part of an effort to reduce the judicial backlog and resolve disputes amicably.
The National Lok Adalat was held in compliance with the Supreme Court’s directives and saw the formation of 62 benches of judges and lawyers for the proceedings.
The National Lok Adalat facilitated the resolution of 21,388 cases. Of the 3,327 pending referred cases, 2,458 were resolved, while 18,930 of the 20,882 pre-litigation cases were also resolved.
