Those protecting Dharma in adversity are true Dharma guardians: Sharma

Wednesday, 23 October 2024 | PNS | UJJAIN

Former Vice Chancellor of Vikram University,  Balkrishna Sharma, on Tuesday said that it is the duty of a righteous brother to lead his faltering sibling to the right path.

The educationist was speaking at the closing ceremony of a seminar on the characters of Shri Ram Leela in Ujjain.

The seminar—organised under the joint aegis of the Department of Culture, Government of Madhya Pradesh, and Triveni Art and Archaeology Museum—was chaired by Professor Vijay Kumar CG, Vice Chancellor of Maharishi Panini Sanskrit Evam Vedic Vishwavidyalaya.

Speaking of Vibhishana, Sharma said that even in times of disaster, Vibhishana renounced unrighteousness, followed the path of righteousness, and took refuge in Lord Ram.

When a brother turns away from religion, the other brother must show him the right path.

Vibhishana also accepted disgrace for following the religion; the Lord accepts the one who comes into His shelter. Prof. Kumar said that every character of the Ramayana is special and has the capacity to influence. Vibhishana is the chief among them; he persuaded his elder brother, Ravana, many times to renounce the path of unrighteousness and take refuge in Ram, after which he opposed him boldly.

Vibhishana suffered many insults for the practice of religion but did not renounce it.

Today, we should also learn from the characters of the Ramayana.

Akhilesh Kumar Dwivedi, Head of the Grammar Department, opened the seminar, which was coordinated by Aditya Chaurasia of the Triveni Museum.Prof. Harimohan Budholia, senior litterateur, Pooja Upadhyay, Shubham Sharma, and others were present at the programme Patanjali Pandey conducted the programme, and Tulsi Das Paroha proposed the vote of thanks.
