The individual championship of the Open Aquatic Meet was won by Dipanshu Singh of Jamshedpur in the boys category and Atishi Kumar of Ranchi in the girls category. Ranchi Swimming Association was the overall championship winner. About 40 girls and 70 boys swimmers from Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Hazaribagh, Ramgarh, Seraikela Kharsawan, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Lohardaga participated in the competition. Minister Dr. Rameshwar Oraon said that Lohardaga is known for its diversity of sports and games. Certainly this event will prove to be a milestone for Jharkhand. Former MP and President of Lohardaga District Swimming Association, Dheeraj Prasad Sahu said that the history of swimming in Lohardaga is six decades old. Many swimmers here have honed their talents at the national level. We will provide every possible cooperation to promote sports. He told that a big cricket tournament will be organized in Lohardaga in December or January.
