Sona Devi University celebrates Teachers' Day

Saturday, 07 September 2024 | PNS | Jamshedpur

National Teachers' Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and reverence at Sona Devi University today. Students welcomed their teachers in a traditional manner, applying tilak with roli, sandalwood-rice, and kumkum, and presenting bouquets and gifts as tokens of love and respect. The celebrations began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and a soulful Ganesh Vandana, followed by an array of vibrant cultural performances including dance, music, poetry recitations, speeches, and poster presentations.

The event was graced by the Chancellor of the university, Prabhakar Singh, Vice Chancellor Dr. J.P. Mishra, Registrar Prof. (Dr.) Gulab Singh 'Azad', principals from various departments, faculty members, and a large number of students. The program was anchored by first-year student Shubhdeep Karji, with speeches delivered by students Kaushalendra, Kashish Lala, and Mousami Das, who eloquently spoke about the significance of Teachers' Day, the role of teachers in shaping society, and the life and contributions of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the renowned philosopher and India's former President, whose birthday is honored as Teachers' Day.

Among the professors who addressed the gathering, Prof. Monica Singh from the School of Management Science detailed Dr. Radhakrishnan’s significant contributions to education, while Prof. Pooja Tiwari from the School of Engineering and Technology highlighted his influence on Indian culture, philosophy, and the nation's political landscape.
