Staking a claim on the winners' trophy in the Under-17 Girls' category, Saint Joseph's Convent (SJC), Idgah Hills, recorded a narrow victory over CL Arya School, Mandideep, in the recently concluded St George Cup Kho-Kho Tournament.
Led by captain Advika Katara, the Josephites reached the final by defeating Holy Family School, Maharishi School, and Siddhartha School.
The SJC team is also the district runner-up this year. The team’s coach, Vishnukant Sahay, has played a pivotal role in grooming the young players, who are now bringing laurels to the school.
The Josephites beat the Mandideep school in the dying moments of the match, bringing cheer to their supporters. The prize distribution ceremony, held on November 9, saw international sailing coach Narendra Singh Rajput, international player Shashank Batham, and national coach Shekhar Batham as the chief guests.
They, along with Director Arun Thomas, Ashlin Rose, and Principal Rajesh Nair, presented trophies and medals to the winning and runner-up teams.The tournament was inaugurated by Chairman Babu Thomas, Director Arun Thomas, and Principal Rajesh Nair.
