In a heartfelt tribute to the martyrdom of Shri Guru Arjan Dev Ji, the Sikh community in Jamshedpur, supported by Ravi Transport and social worker Chanchal Bhatia, set up a special Chhabil on National Highway 33. The event aimed to honor the fifth Sikh Guru, who is remembered for his supreme sacrifice in 1606 AD.
The ceremony began with a solemn Ardaas (prayer), following which refreshing Sharbat and Chana were distributed to passersby and truck drivers enduring the scorching heat. This gesture not only provided physical relief but also infused the local atmosphere with a sense of devotion as the sacred hymns of Gurbani echoed around.
Guru Arjan Dev Ji, known for his spiritual contributions and the compilation of the Adi Granth, faced martyrdom on the orders of Mughal Emperor Jahangir. Enduring extreme torture with unwavering faith, Guru Arjan Dev Ji was made to sit on a hot pan while boiling water and hot sand were poured over his body. His martyrdom is a poignant reminder of his teachings on steadfastness in faith, the protection of the nation, religion, and self-respect.
The event saw active participation from the local community, including significant contributions from the Sikh Bhatia family women who played a vital role in serving the visitors. Key supporters like Ravinder Singh, Manjot Singh, Sukhraj Singh, Chand Singh Vilkhu, Manmeet Kaur, Amardeep Kaur, and Baby Kaur were instrumental in the success of the Chhabil.
"This Chhabil is not just about quenching physical thirst," said Chanchal Bhatia, "It is about reminding ourselves of the spiritual resilience and the sacrifices made by our Gurus. We hope to carry forward the legacy of Guru Arjan Dev Ji through acts of service and devotion."
The community's effort to set up the Chhabil on NH33 was a testament to the enduring spirit of Guru Arjan Dev Ji's teachings and the collective commitment to honor his memory through selfless service and unity.
