Mandal Murmu, a descendant of martyr Sido-Kanhu and one of the proposers of Chief Minister Hemant Soren nomination form Barhait assembly seat has received a death threat. Murmu last week joined the BJP.
An unknown person in a whatsapp message has issued a death threat of beheading him. The unknown person has written that, "The person who beheads Mandal Murmu will be given Rs 50 lakh by Sido-Kanhu Baisi Samiti." This message went viral on Wednesday and created a sensation.’
On receiving information about this, the police have arrested a person. Former Jharkhand CM Champai Soren has reacted strongly to this threat. He has said that this is the lowest level of politics. Such threats cannot be ignored. He demanded immediate action from Jharkhand Police in this matter
Soren shared a viral WhatsApp message on the social media platform and wrote, "Request to Jharkhand Police to take strict action against such people with criminal mindset. Election Commission and Sahibganj DC please make arrangements for the security of Mandal Murmu's family.
Mandal Murmu is a descendant of martyr Sido-Kanhu, the hero of the Santhal rebellion of Jharkhand. Hemant Soren has made him his proposer while filing nomination from Barhet seat. Jharkhand politics regarding Mandal Murmu heated up when news and pictures of his meeting with BJP leaders went viral.
When he was coming to Ranchi recently to meet BJP leaders, the police stopped him for a long time. Later on November 3, he joined the BJP in the presence of Union Minister and Jharkhand BJP election in-charge Shivraj Singh Chauhan and Assam Chief Minister and Jharkhand BJP co-in-charge Himanta Biswa Sarma.
He had said on this occasion, "Sido-Kanhu, Phool Jhano sacrificed their lives for this country. I am from the same family. I am joining the BJP of my own free will."
