The INDIA bloc leaders displayed show of strength at the swearing in ceremony of JMM supremo Hemant Soren swearing in as several senior leaders from bloc were present at the oath ceremony held at historic Morhabadi ground.
The leaders who were present at the oath ceremony included Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool leader Mamata Banerjee, Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal and Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav among others. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shiva Kumar, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Thiru Udhayanidhi Stalin among others were also present.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Hemant Soren on becoming the Chief Minister. Modi in his social media platform X said ‘Congratulations to Shri Hemant Soren on taking oath as Jharkhand CM. Best wishes to him for his tenure ahead.”.
The leaders of the India Alliance who reached Ranchi to attend the swearing-in ceremony were given a grand welcome in a traditional manner. These leaders were led by Kalpana Soren. She welcomed all the top leaders of the Indi Alliance, from Rahul Gandhi. She took them to the stage. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge were given a grand welcome at Ranchi Airport. Similarly, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and Tamil Nadu Deputy CM Udayanidhi Stalin were also given a grand welcome.
Leader of Opposition in Bihar Tejashwi Yadav, while talking to the media at the airport, said that under the leadership of Hemant Soren, we will run the government for five years and take Jharkhand forward. Samajwadi Party supremo Akhilesh Yadav said that we failed in Maharashtra, but will come forward with full strength.
Forty-nine-year-old Hemant Soren started his political career with a short stint in Rajya Sabha before becoming an MLA in 2009. He served as Deputy Chief Minister from 2010 to 2013 when JMM was in an alliance with the BJP and Arjun Munda was Chief Minister. Later in 2013, he became Chief Minister with the JMM tying up with the Congress and RJD. In the 2014 state election, the BJP came to power and Mr Soren took over as Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly. The JMM-Congress alliance won the 2019 Assembly election and Mr Soren started his second stint as Chief Minister.
The Morhabadi ground is also setting records in its name. So far, the Morhabadi ground has witnessed the swearing-in ceremony of four Chief Ministers. Arjun Munda was the first to take oath as Chief Minister in this ground. After this, in 2014, Raghuvar Das took oath as Chief Minister in the swearing-in ceremony held in the same ground. Then in 2019, Hemant Soren took oath as CM in the swearing-in ceremony held in Morhabadi itself. Now once again Hemant Soren took oath as CM in the swearing-in ceremony held in Morhabadi. Except Hemant Soren, Raghuvar Das and Arjun Munda, the rest of the Chief Ministers took oath as CM in the swearing-in ceremony held at the Raj Bhavan.
