Severe heat alert in Gwalior, Nimar regions till May 21

There is a severe heat alert till May 21 in Gwalior, Chambal and Nimar of Madhya Pradesh. Heat waves i.e. hot winds will blow in 15 districts here. At the same time, there may be thunderstorms and rain in 16 districts including the eastern part i.e. Jabalpur, Narsinghpur on Saturday.

Earlier on Friday, there was record heat in Gwalior and Guna. For the first time in the season the mercury crossed 44 degrees.

IMD Bhopal, said that there is a cyclonic circulation system over North-East Rajasthan. A trough line is also passing from there. In Madhya Pradesh, the Western Disturbance is active along the trough line. There will be another western disturbance effect. Due to this, there is intense heat at some places and rains and storms at other places.

It is raining and storming especially in the southern and eastern parts. Temperature is increasing in northern and western parts. The effect of intense heat was seen here on Friday also. Due to this, an alert has been issued for the next 4 days.

In the next 24 hours hot winds will blow in Sheopur Kalan, Morena, Bhind, Gwalior, Datia, Niwari, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Sagar and Damoh.

Heat wave conditions would be witnessed in  Gwalior, Morena, Bhind, Sheopur, Guna, Ashoknagar, Datia, Niwari, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Alirajpur, Barwani, Khargone, Khandwa and Harda.

Mercury reaches record 44.9 degrees in Gwalior, crosses 44 in Guna too.

Earlier on Friday, the mercury reached a record 44.9 degrees Celsius in Gwalior. This temperature remained higher than the entire season last year. Last year on May 22-23 the mercury was 44.8 degrees. The temperature in Guna also remained 44.5 degrees Celsius. The temperature in Ratlam, Shivpuri and Naugaon was 43 degrees or more.

In the big cities mercury was recorded at 40.2 degrees in Bhopal, 39.9 degrees in Indore, 35.4 degrees in Jabalpur and 42.5 degrees Celsius in Ujjain. There was light rain in Dhar-Indore on Friday
