Seth questions Congress over Ambedkar insult issue

Tuesday, 24 December 2024 | PNS | Ranchi

On the issue of insult to Baba Saheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar, Ranchi MP and Minister of State for Defense Sanjay Seth said that Congress has always insulted him. He was talking to reporters at the Jharkhand BJP office. He raised many questions on the Congress party and its leaders. He also said that the country knows that the Congress party has always insulted Baba Saheb.

Sanjay Seth asked the Congress that they should tell why Baba Saheb Ambedkar resigned from the Nehru Cabinet. Why was Baba Saheb not given Bharat Ratna in 70 years? Who opposed putting Baba Saheb's picture in the Parliament. Referring to the incident that took place in the Parliament premises, Sanjay Seth said that we were protesting. Congress MPs could have passed by. They deliberately worsened the situation. You must have also seen on TV, how Rahul Gandhi was walking like a boxer.

It is noteworthy that Home Minister Amit Shah had taken the name of Baba Saheb Ambedkar and said that taking his name has become a fashion today. If you had taken the name of God so many times, you would have reached heaven for seven births. All opposition parties including Congress are opposing this statement of Amit Shah and demanding an apology from him.

Congress has announced to organize programs against Amit Shah's statement in different states and districts across the country. Similarly, senior BJP leaders are also holding press conferences in their respective states. In which they are saying that Amit Shah has not insulted Baba Saheb Ambedkar. Congress has always been insulting him.

Seth’s press conference assumes importance as entire BJP is defensive on Ambedkar issue. There are very few leaders who reached the status of a demigod, like Babasaheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar has. Call it a fight over the Dalit icon's legacy or a bid to woo his followers, the MPs in the Parliament were jostling for it. It was the remark of Amit Shah that has become a flashpoint and the BJP scrambled to contain the situation. There are multiple reasons why this necessitated this firefight.

On Wednesday, a day after the remark by Shah in the Rajya Sabha, the entire BJP brass, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Shah himself, stepped in to counter the Opposition's allegations of "insulting Babasaheb".

While delivering a speech during the debate on the Constitution, Shah criticised the Congress for allegedly misusing Ambedkar's name for political gains.

"There's a fashion now of saying 'Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar'. If one takes God's name this many times, one would get into heaven," Shah said. "Take Ambedkar's name 100 more times, but I will tell you how you really feel about Ambedkar ji."
