In a commendable initiative to acknowledge the pivotal role played by Sahiya Didis in enhancing health services at the grassroots level, a District Level Sahiya Conference was organized at Town Hall Sidhgora. The event, graced by MLA Jamshedpur East Saryu Rai as the chief guest, saw the participation of key dignitaries, including District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal, District Council President Bari Murmu, Vice President Pankaj Sinha, Deputy Development Commissioner Manish Kumar, Civil Surgeon Dr. Jujhar Majhi, and representatives from Tata Steel Foundation.
The program highlighted the significant contributions of Sahiya Didis, particularly during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic. Their efforts, from successfully implementing vaccination programs to leading the district in various health indicators, were praised by the esteemed guests. Sahiyas from across the district attended the conference.
MLA Saryu Rai acknowledged Sahiyas as the crucial link connecting health issues of married women, pregnant women, teenagers, and children with the health department. He expressed gratitude for their unwavering dedication during the pandemic and emphasized the impact of their work on global health statistics. He assured continued support for Sahiya Didis in the form of infrastructure and facilities.
District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal lauded the Sahiyas for their efficiency in conducting regular check-ups for pregnant women, providing awareness about dietary habits and precautions during pregnancy, and encouraging institutional deliveries. He appreciated their active participation in disease-related campaigns and urged them to maintain the same pace in the future. The progress made in the filariasis eradication campaign was also acknowledged.
District Council President Bari Murmu praised the Sahiyas for their significant role in the health of children, pregnant women, and the elderly. She commended their efforts in curbing societal issues and recognized their admirable service to society.
Deputy Development Commissioner Manish Kumar expressed gratitude for Sahiya Didis' dedication, acknowledging their contributions from polio vaccination to the COVID vaccination campaign. He encouraged them to maintain the same level of activity in ongoing health campaigns.
City SP Mukesh Lunayat saluted the work done by Sahiya Didis and pledged the police department's readiness to provide any necessary assistance.
The highlight of the event was the honoring of five outstanding Sahiyas from each block in the district with certificates and gifts. The program, conducted by District Program Manager Hakim Pradhan, concluded with a collective pledge to create a filariasis-free district and increase voter awareness, emphasizing health awareness through a signature campaign and balloon flying. The conference celebrated the tireless efforts of Sahiya Didis and resolved to continue their impactful contributions to rural health services.
