With Durga Puja just round the corner many steps are being taken by Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) to provide better facilities to the puja committees and the devotees of the City. For this purpose, regarding the preparations for the festival, a meeting was convened with all the Durga Puja Committees within the corporation area under the chairmanship of Municipal Commissioner Sandeep Kumar on Friday.
The representatives of the various committees appreciated the work being done by RMC during the festival every year. The members also apprised RMC officials of the problems faced and emphasised on regular cleaning of the pandal premises, surrounding areas and connecting paths, street lights, cleaning of immersion sites and also fencing the dangerous areas by marking with bamboo sticks, availability of stone dust and fogging. The members also requested to make arrangements for water tankers and mobile toilets for men and women at various places. A request was also made for special lighting at the black spots of the City.
The Municipal Commissioner assured the members of the Durga Puja Committees that they will not face any problem during the festival and the corporation team will work will full alertness 24 hours a day. Kumar also said that the corporation has started a special campaign for cleanliness and other facilities are also being provided and that the corporation’s cleanliness drive for the festival is its top priority.
Kumar also stated that in case of any inconvenience, the assistant administrators and city managers should be contacted for an immediate solution.
Kumar also urged the puja committee members to keep sufficient number of dustbins in their puja pandals and instruct volunteers to motivate devotees to not litter any garbage in the premises. Stone dust is also being made available by RMC in most of the pandals as per requirement and all the modular toilets of the City are being cleaned for the convenience of the citizens.
The Municipal Commissioner also informed that the Electricity Department is working to repair all the damaged street lights and high mast lights of the City while instructions have also been given to make special lighting arrangements at black spots.

While wishing the residents of Ranchi Municipal Corporation area a very happy Durga Puja, the Municipal Commissioner has also appealed to them to not throw any garbage here and there but only in the dustbin so the corporation team can collect garbage easily and the cleanliness of the City can remain intact.
